Shift Up Material & Late Season Perennials
This week we are featuring a smaller collection of material that ranges in form and function for a landscape. There are several items that we are encouraging our customers to use for shift up to allow for more growth and maturity. Curious about the perks of buying for shift-up? Or maybe you want to learn more about “what is shift up material”… check out our post on the topic here!
Cerise Charm Loropetalum and Gulf Stream Nandina are two different 1-gallon varieties that are ideal candidates for shift-up and resale, as they will fill out and mature immensely in the upcoming months. Late season perennials like Eupatorium and Solidago are starting to set buds after a late spring prune, while others like Echinacea and Coreopsis continue to push color continuously.
Plant spotlight: Echinacea hybrida 'Cheyenne Spirit' 1 gallon.
One of our favorite perennials year after year is the Echinacea hybrida 'Cheyenne Spirit'. This coneflower is a power punch of color in a landscape and is particularly known for its multicolored blooms in each pot. Did you know the word “echinacea” comes from the Greek “echinos,” an adjective describing spiny creatures like hedgehogs and sea urchins, an apt description for the spiny center cone of the flower?
