Benefits: The leaves of Emperor I have a typical palmatum shape and are beautiful deep purple-red in spring and summer, changing to beautiful dark crimson in fall. Emperor I is a strong, vigorous grower with upright branching, developing a broad shape with age. Plants typically leaf out a couple weeks later than other palmatums, thus reducing the risk of injury from frost.
